Junior FIRST LEGO® League
Junior FIRST LEGO® League (Jr.FLL) captures young children’s inherent curiosity and directs it toward discovering the wonders of science and technology. Jr.FLL developed from FIRST LEGO League (FLL), a program for 9-14 year olds. Both Jr.FLL and FLL are created through a partnership between FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) and The LEGO Group.
Jr.FLL:
- Building- and research-based program for kids
- Unintimidating introduction to basic science and engineering concepts
- Flexible season structure
- Can be used in the classroom or as an after-school, home school, family, or neighborhood activity
Jr.FLL Kids:
- Design and construct a model using LEGO bricks and moving parts
- Present their research journey on a poster
- Learn teamwork skills
- Build self-confidence, knowledge, and life skills
How Jr.FLL Works:
- Teams of up to 6 kids, ages 6 to 9
- Schools, home schools, families, civic groups, churches, neighborhood groups
- Adult coaches and mentors
- Parents, grandparents, teachers, community volunteers
- New real-world Challenge project each year, based on same theme as the FLL program
- Community-hosted events
